The God Who Sees Me

logo 1Over the next few weeks we’ll be producing a blog series titled “Building Bridges Across the Generational Divide.” As you read a variety of perspectives from women from different walks of life and different generations, we hope that you’ll feel encouraged and challenged to reach out with grace, understanding, and empathy to connect with those in a different generation.

The God Who Sees Me

By Marnie Wells

The angel of the Lord found Hagar near a spring in the desert; it was the spring that is beside the road to Shur. And he said, “Hagar, slave of Sarai, where have you come from, and where are you going?” “I’m running away from my mistress Sarai,” she answered. Then the angel of the Lord told her, “Go back to your mistress and submit to her.” The angel added, “I will increase your descendants so much that they will be too numerous to count.” The angel of the Lord also said to her: “You are now pregnant and you will give birth to a son. You shall name him Ishmael, for the Lord has heard of your misery. He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone’s hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers.” She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” That is why the well was called Beer Lahai Roi; it is still there, between Kadesh and Bered. So Hagar bore Abram a son, and Abram gave the name Ishmael to the son she had borne. Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore him Ishmael. Genesis 16:7-16

“Praying for you this morning. 🙏🏻 The Holy Spirit whispered your name – He was speaking and saying I am the God who sees … over and over. I asked Him for more, and He said He sees in the secret places, He is the God who redeems and restores, He is the God who provides and He is a covering over you. ❤️❤️ love you”I would consider this dear sender a mentee. We meet as the need arises, as she is seasoned in the ways of God.We all need to be reminded daily that we serve the God Who Sees (Gen. 16:13) ... not just on our birthday or during some crisis, but “He sees us when we’re sleeping, He knows when we’re awake, He knows if we’ve been bad or good” (thank you for allowing a little post-holiday humor).the god who seesDear one … HE SEES YOU!Right now. Where you are ... and, most important, He sees through eyes of love and a heart that is FOR YOU!I’m reminded that mentoring is not a one-way street! Whether I am sitting with young or old, male or female, the truths and promises of God ALWAYS “splash back” to bless me!Just like the “pleasant, achy tired” that comes from a day of activity, often that is how I feel after a young one leaves my home.I am refreshed!I am reminded!I am ministered to by the living truths of the Word!Let the God Who Sees “in” today and be refreshed!Ponder: Knowing that He sees me, how does this affect my day to day? Am I making an intentional effort to encourage those running the race with me? Ask the Lord to open your eyes to the needs around you.Prayer: Father, I thank You for where You have placed me. I ask that You will open my eyes and ears to what the Spirit is doing that I might come alongside as an encourager. Let me be a Life-speaker, Lord, so that others will be encouraged to do the same. I trust You, Lord. Amen.
